Master Chief's Origin Revealed

Marvel's series of Halo projects is about to take a turn into some seriously important material. Starting this September, the publisher intends to adapt 2001's best-selling Halo: Fall of Reach novel, which is most notable for its revelation of Master Chief's origin.

We only know a few key details about this four-issue adaptation, which according to Marvel focuses on this key question: What's the secret on the planet of Reach that led to the creation of the Master Chief?

Marvel's full description of the series is this: "Before he was Master Chief, he was John - a boy stolen from his parents and conscripted into the SPARTAN II program on the fortress world of Reach. But as the galaxy falls into dark times, one doctor must pay a terrible price to keep humanity from being destroyed."

Brian Reed (Ms. Marvel, Dark Reign: Spider-Man) and Felix Ruiz (Marvel Boy: The Uranian) are on tap as writer and artist respectively. The series is intended for audiences age 17 and up, and will cost $3.99 per issue. Marvel did not indicate a release date more specific than September 2010.
