Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome

Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome Expansion is a history-based real-time strategy game in the Age of Empires series. It is based on the rise of the Roman Empire, and adds the Roman Empire and three other playable civilizations to Age of Empires.The Rise of Rome features a new Roman architectural design, shared by all four new civilizations, the Romans, Palmyrans, Macedonians and Carthaginians. Four new researchable technologies have been added. Additional new features include five new units, the ability to double click a single unit and highlight others of the same unit-type and unit-build queuing. Pathfinding for all units is also considerably improved.

Gameplay changes included adding larger maps and tweaking the interface; such as adding unit queuing, using the period key to cycle through idle villagers, balancing damage done by catapults, and increasing the population limit.
New music was composed for this expansion, which replaced the original score entirely.

Microsoft Age of Empires is an epic, real-time strategy game spanning 10,000 years, where players are the guiding spirit in the evolution of a small Stone Age tribe. Starting with minimal resources, players are challenged to build their tribes into great civilizations. Choose from one of several ways to win the game: by conquering enemy civilizations, exploring the "known" world, or accumulating wealth to achieve economic victory.
