Sony Sues PS3 Hackers

After filing a temporary restraining order against the PS3 jailbreakers, Sony has now followed up by hitting them with a copyright infringement lawsuit. For those not in the know, a PS3 jailbreak allows an individual or run third party applications aka ‘homebrew’ as well as backup games from the PS3 hard drive.
Fight to the end...

The lawsuit states that the hackers are in violation of (but not limited to) the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, Contributory copyright infringement as well as violating PlayStation Network’s Terms of Services and Sony’s Intellectual property.

In addition to all the above, Sony is also asking the court to stop the hackers from distributing the jailbreak as well as to turn over the hardware and software used to create the jailbreak code.

There will be some serious fireworks in the weeks to come and we will cover it as it happens.
