Motorola released the much anticipated upgraded version for one of its popular android smart phones in the market today which is Motorola Droid. On the outside you do not notice much of a difference from the last year model or the previous version, in fact most of the upgrades is on the inside and lets check out what’s new with this latest Droid X2 smart phone.
Like mentioned before its exactly the same Droid phone we have seen last year, its fairly thin made of solid materials, its a fairly thin device though it cannot compete with the thinnest ones which Samsung and HTC is releasing at present its still a comfortable device to hold in your palm and slide in to your pant pockets, its slightly bulky where the camera is present which few might or might not like that totally depends on individual’s taste.
One of the strange thing we noticed about this device is there is no dedicated camera button which we was present in the previous generation, for some reason motorola decided to remove it. It has a 4.3 inch capacitive touch screen display with the resolution of 540 x 960 pixels with support for about 16 million colors, its one of the best displays you can get on your smart phone, its also nearly 26% more pixels from the last year, display supports multi touch, accelerometer, has proximity sensor etc.. just below the display is where the typical android buttons are located, these are physical buttons and motorola restricted itself from using capacitive ones which is not bad at all.
Under the hood its powered by dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 1000 Mhz processor, and you got it right its the same processor that powers up most android tablets at present, once you switch on the device and play with it a bit, you can really appreciate the power of the dual core processor, its definitely feels snappy and more fluid as well just the way most people would like the touch interface to behave.
Talking about the interface its powered by Android 2.2 Froyo which is not the latest android version but there will soon be the upgrade to 2.3 ginger bread. Its a typically customized Android interface with Motoblur of Motorola, if you have already used a motorola android device you will get used to it in no time. Features 8MP camera at the back with LED flash support, picture and video quality is same as the previous generation device, there are few tweaks with the camera interface with better gallery and continuous auto focus, reduced shot to shot time while taking snaps are some noticeable features with the camera. There is no front facing camera which can be a bit of disappointment for some.
Connectivity includes 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, GPS, microUSB 2.0 and miniHDMI, With the purchase this device will have 8GB of built in memory and an additional 8GB microSD card which can be upgraded to 32GB. The supplied 1540mAh battery will support 8 hours of talk time and 220 hours of stand by time.
