The Blackberry 8520 is an entry-level handset in the Curve series, and it sports a new trackpad compared to the trackball on the previous model. It is a basic smartphone and doesn't have 3G phone and GPS functionality.

The 8520 comes with several powerful business functionalities like push mail, well spaced out QWERTY keyboard, excellent connectivity and decent memory.

The Blackberry 8520 supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate, the phone has a 3.5mm jack which lets you plug the headset into your car stereo or any generic headphone.

The handset comes with a 2 MP camera capable of 5x digital zoom and video recording at 320 x 240 pixels. The handset features a crisp 2.46 TFT display with 65 k colors. Other features in the phone include SMS, MMS, and push mail with attachment viewer, voice dialing, personal organizer functions and LED call indicator.

The 8520 features an audio and video player which supports AAC-LC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB, WMA9 (. wma/. asf), WMA9 PRO/WMA & AAC-LC formats. The bright screen on 8520 provides a great viewing experience and the trackpad navigation allows for seamless access to all the functions.

The handset has dedicated multimedia keys, it lets you pause music, skip tracks, or set a song on repeat. RIM has also included a handy one touch mute button in 8520.

The 8520's chassis is a combination of high quality plastic and rubber, which renders it with a sturdy resilient feel. It features a 35 concept full-QWERTY keyboard, combined with the responsive trackpad, allows for easy navigation.

The Blackberry 8520 doesn't have an inbuilt GPS navigator; however, it allows you to use Google Map as a substitute. It offers support for Blackberry App world, where you can download tons of apps to suit your needs and interests. The phone comes with 256 MB of internal memory and supports microSD cards up to 32 GB
