Yesterday Microsoft announced an interesting strategy to push its Office suite to more users, and increase it sales.Yes you will get advertising-supported Full version of Office 2010 called as “Microsoft Office Starter 2010″ for free.
Now new PCs users, instead of getting a 60-day trial plus MS Works they will get MS Office Starter 2010, which will include only Word 2010 and Excel 2010, but if users want to upgrade to a full-fledged version of Office they need to purchase a “Product Key Card” to activate it.
Coming to “Product key Card”, a single-license activation card which will be available at OEMs and electronic retail outlets. With this card you can upgrade or unlock full versions of Office 2010 (Home & Student 2010 or Office Home & Business 2010, or Office Professional 2010).
Microsoft also introduced Click-To-Run (a new) technology, which automatically downloads and installs any software patches when connected to the Internet, helping people maintain and keep their Office software up-to-date. Click-to-Run uses virtualization technology so it allows customers to maintain multiple versions of Office. This enables them to try Office 2010 side-by-side with the existing version of Office.
However, MS Office Starter 2010 will not be available for download, but it will be preloaded on new PCs. I think it Would benefit every one if it is available on web, so that it will allow others to try and buy Office 2010.
